Collection Description & Creator Information

Scope and Contents

Consists of nine 16th-, 17th-, and 18th-century German legal documents collected by Reyburn. Eight of these documents originated in the town of Stuttgart; five of them concern the sale of real property and the three others concern the division of property, a watercourse through a courtyard, and the spilling of offal from a drain onto a neighbor's property. Also present is a diploma awarded to Johann Rudolphus Osiander as master of philosophy at Tübingen in 1719. All the documents are in German, some with wax seals in wood cases attached, and with notes in English made by Reyburn.

Arrangement

Each document, written in German, is accompanied by a photostat and notes, in English, by Albert T. Reyburn. In addition, the spelling of names is approximate.
