    Notes
    • 20 settings of the odd- or even-numbered verses of the Magnificat for two to six voices.
    • For the completely texted Magnificats, polyphonic settings of the odd-numbered verses occur first (beginning Anima mea Domini), followed by the even-numbered verses (beginning Et exsultavit), implying alternatim performance with plainchant or organ. All settings omit the first word of text (Magnificat), sung in chant.
    • Dedicated to Tiberius Capoferreus and Gasparus Cincius, canons of the Vatican Basilica.
    • Signatures: A-Q⁶.
    • Woodcut title vignette of Mary and Elizabeth is enclosed by four-block woodcut historiated border; printer's woodcut device on colophon has image of winged horse and motto: Invia virtuti nulla est via; historiated or ornamental capitals on every page; woodcut cartouche at head of each page, enclosing letterpress legend; music printed from metal type.
    • Letterpress legends in Roman capitals; all other text in black letter.
