      Summary note
A panorama celebrating the early efforts to fulfill Stalin's first Five Year Plan. The strip's upper side includes several maps showing those sites where notable gains had been made in electrification, factory-building, metallurgy, and collectivization. Each page of the strip's lower side has flaps on the upper and lower edges, identical to those of a harlequinade. The flaps when closed show the level of development in those same areas 1927-1928. When the reader turns up the flaps, they reveal a dramatic image of the progress made between 1932 and 1933.
      Notes
      • Cover title.
      • Romanized record.
      • The "5-year plan" is graphically demonstrated through the design and construction of this book. When the pages are first opened, the state of affairs for 1927/28 is shown, but when flaps are expanded out, the pages become taller (40 cm.) and the projections for 1932/33 are revealed. Another design element of the book is that when it is turned over and opened from the back, a new scheme of information is given, with pages turning to maps showing the conglomerations of various industries.
      • Translated title: The Five-Year Plan.
      • continuous strip accordion-folded into [20] pages, incl. wrappers.
