Title: Method-Level Power Estimation in Android Devices

Class Year: 2015
Abstract: Power profiling for Android devices is a field that has seen much growth in recent years, because of the importance of writing power efficient code for smartphones. However, developers still lack a tool to allow them to easily attribute power at the granularity of the function level. This work aims at providing a tool which allows developers to combine a log of function execution with online power estimates to produce an interactive, easy to understand tool for attributing power consumption to individual functions in an application. While our tool failed to achieve some of the key goals it aimed at, hopefully it will provide motivation for a faster, more robust tool for attributing power consumption to Android functions.
