The collection consists of papers of Liu, including manuscripts, notes, drafts of speeches, reviews, correspondence, audiocassettes of interviews, and other material. Included is a complete run of China Focus/China Watch (1993-1999) (a publication of the Princeton China Initiative) and most of the monthly Great Road (Princeton, N.J.).

Arrangement

The order of materials at the time of their transfer has been retained.

Collection Creator Biography:

Liu, Binyan, 1925-2005.

Liu Binyan was a Chinese author, journalist, and political dissident. In the spring of 1988, he came to the U.S. for teaching and writing, but was barred from returning after denouncing the Chinese government for its Beijing massacre and nationwide crackdown in June 1989. He died in East Windsor, N.J., on December 5, 2005.
