Abstract

Consists of approximately 100 letters and postcards addressed to Trigueiros from seven correspondents: Jorge Amado (1967-1995), António S. Celestino (1973), Manuel Ferriera (1959-1966), Jesué Pinharanda Gomes (1960-1995), António Guedes de Amorim (1947-1971), Afonso Lopes Vieira (1935-1944), and José Rodrigues Júnior (1958-1987).

The collection consists of approximately 100 letters and postcards addressed to Trigueiros from seven correspondents: Jorge Amado (1967-1995), António S. Celestino (1973), Manuel Ferreira (1959-1966), Jesué Pinharanda Gomes (1960-1995), António Guedes de Amorim (1947-1971), Afonso Lopes Vieira (1935-1944), and José Rodrigues Júnior (1958-1987).

Collection Creator Biography:

Trigueiros, Luiz.

Luiz Forjaz Trigueiros was a Portuguese and Brazilian journalist, essayist, critic, and scholar. He was born in Lisbon and began his career as a journalist at Notícias de Alcobaça in 1931. He published his first work of fiction,Caminho sem luz, in 1936, which received the Fialho de Almeida. He was one of the founders of Diário Popular and Diário de Notícias, where he served as director from 1946-1953. He was a member of the editorial board of Editora Bertrand (1948-1951) and subsequently became the director in 1974. From 1975-1978, he was the director of Editora Nova Fronteira in Rio de Janeiro. He also served as director for the Centro de Estudos Brasileiros do Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas (Center for Brazil Studies at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences) in Lisbon. Trigueiros died in 2000.
