Abstract: Urban violence is a social phenomenon that is seen all around the world. In America specifically we see this same phenomenon exist yet it is greatly segmented to urban African-Americans. What’s more is that this sort of conflict has always been disproportionately relegated to this group. Because of several social factors such as poverty and mass incarceration this violence has persisted for decades. Today we see very much the same. In my thesis I analyze the genesis of these social issues and their implications for violence in the future.
